One thing I want everyone considering as they write about and create a representation of themselves within a game world is something we talked about recently: genre. As we discussed in class, genres (in both writing and games) set up certain expectations and dictate what may or may not be "acceptable" for the audience a particular genre is trying to reach. Since you'll be creating a character and/or relating to one, something worth considering when you write this project is the game world this character comes from/exists in. Location and setting, as seen in Super Mario Crossover, can also help dictate the expectations of a certain genre (the levels and enemies were all designed with platforming in mind, naturally).
So, that said, I want you to think about and answer a few questions:
Think about and answer as many of the questions above as you like and think about how genre might influence the writing you’re doing in this first project.

So, that said, I want you to think about and answer a few questions:
- What genre might the avatar you're creating belong to?
- How might the genre and/or setting of your avatar's game world be reflected in the visual you're creating?
- How does/might your character exemplify and/or defy the characteristics of the genre(s) you're building off of?
Think about and answer as many of the questions above as you like and think about how genre might influence the writing you’re doing in this first project.
