Before you begin blogging: a word about the blogs in general.
- You are only required to respond to these "graded" blogs, the ones on this tab.
- I used to mandate the use of WordPress for blogging, but I’ve since had a change of heart (as you can tell by relocating my blog to Weebly). Feel free to use whatever blogging site works best for you.
- Make sure your blog link appears correctly: Section 55 (9AM) Click Here and Section 57 (10AM) Click Here.
- The biggest downside to opening up the blog service you use is that providing comments back to your blog posts is not easy to maintain. Nonetheless, I do read everything you write for your blog entries and carefully consider it, but with 40 students to manage and several platforms people blog on, this can be extremely difficult to maintain on my end. This is an acknowledgment and apology for that in advance.
- About the entries themselves: they need to be over 200 words. If not, they won’t count. Being thorough in your writing will also likely net you more points.
- I will typically only assign the following grades: 0, 50, 100, or 110.
- 0 is for not completing your blog entry.
- 50 is if you complete it before the next blog is due.
- 100 for completing the blog on time and over word count.
- 110 for clearly going above and beyond, and writing beyond the limits and/or bringing in images and YouTube videos to help make your points (or entertain... have fun with these!).
- Your blog is a weighted element of this course, and it’s designed to ensure you’re actively participating in this course both in class and outside of it. Make sure you’re taking this seriously. Again, each blog is worth 1.5% of your final grade. I’ve seen countless A-’s turn into B+’s because of not doing blogs. Make sure you do them, on time.
